Rose City Gymnastics Academy is committed to providing gymnastics as a vehicle for supporting the healthy physical, cognitive and emotional development of children and urban youth ages 3-18. From our close-in Eastside location, we serve Portland Metro area families who are attracted to our mission, inclusive philosophy, family-oriented nature and extensive parent involvement. Committed to building character and self-confidence through our programs, we offer support through increased physical health, supportive peer relationships, involvement in teamwork and mentoring from coaches. In addition to the positive influence on overall good health and well being of children, our programs provide the following educational opportunities:

  • Activity emphasizing individual achievement as well as camaraderie and teamwork.
  • Practice performing under pressure, which is transferable to life situations.
  • A positive support system and excellent role models in our coaches.

We offer classes for ages 4 and up. Our Fall Schedule Begins September 4th, 2007. Along with gymnastics, students are exposed to different physical and educational activities which enhance the camp experience. To register, please e-mail us at info@rosecitygym.com

Jamm’n Junior Gymnast Programs
Rose City Gymnastics Academy’s Jammin’ Junior Gymnast Program offers classes for children 3 to 6 years of age. These classes incorporate music, games and themes to promote basic motor skills, perceptual development, creative movement, social skills, and fundamental gymnastics skills. Classes maintain a low student to instructor ratio to assure individualized attention, as well as offer the children tailored instruction according to their age and skill level.

  • Once a week         - $50.00 per month
  • Twice a week        - $90.00 per month

Jamm’n Junior Gym Program - Tumbling Tots (age 3 to 4 years)

This class is geared toward presenting the children with imaginative ways to learn basic fundamental gymnastics skills. Each lesson is designed to further develop the children’s independence, self -confidence, kinesthetic awareness. This class also focuses a great deal on early educational concepts, such as colors and numbers.

Jamm’n Junior Gym Program - Kinder Tots (age 4 to 6 years)

The kinder tots class is slightly more skill orientated and physically challenging for this age group. This class focuses on gymnastics fundamentals, creative movement, listening skills and coordination. As each child progresses new and exciting challenges are introducedbased on each child’s individual handspring skill level.

Level 1

As the students' strength and confidence develops, they become proficient in making that "donkey kick" transform into a handstand or cartwheel. Body confidence will be enhanced through tumbling, balance beam, trampoline, bars, and vault. Class includes warm-ups, skill instruction, and circuits in the gymnastic events. Students will be introduced to cartwheel (R&L), backward roll (incline), forward roll, and candlestick to stand. Beginning gymnastics taught on floor, bars, balance beam and vault, stressing form, strength, flexibility and safety! The class focuses on strength and flexibility preparing for level 2. Students will learn basic gymnastics skills on all the apparatus. Skill requirements for this class: forward roll (incline), donkey kick, cartwheel (over mat), bridge, and candlestick.

Level 2

Students will be challenged and introduced to round off, back bend from a stand, bridge kick over (incline), forward roll to straddle stand. Students will also be introduced to vaults, beams, and bars. MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM: cartwheel, bridge and back roll w/o help. Intermediate class offering more developmental skills on all gymnastics events. Strength and flexibility are stressed along with basic dance skills, all in a positive, highly structured environment. Instructor's invitation only. Skill requirements for this class: bridge kick over (incline), forward roll to straddle stand, cartwheel with hurdle, round off, and back bend from a stand. Students will be introduced to handstand forward roll, handstand to bridge; straight-arm backward roll (incline), handstand holds, and bridge kick over.

Level 3

Students are challenged through instruction in floor exercises, vault, beam, trampoline, and bars. Skills charts help students set goals and aid in sequential skill development. MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM: bridge kick over, round off, handstand. This class will focus on developing the strength, flexibility, endurance, and skill acquisition to perform the basic gymnastic skills. Routines, dance, flexibility and strength provided in a highly structured atmosphere. Instructor's invitation only. Skill requirements for this class: handstand forward roll, handstand to bridge, bridge kick over, straight-arm backward roll, and pullover on bars. Students will be introduced to handstand bridge stand up, back extension roll, dive rolls, back walkover, front handsprings, back handspring, front tuck, front walkover, front handspring series, round off back handsprings.

Junior Gymnast Play Park

Junior Gymnast Play Park is a great way for children to enjoy free time in the gym where they can have fun and exercise while practicing gymnastics skills or just playing in our gymnastics wonderland. RCGA’s experienced staff memebers supervise the Play Park to ensure proper safety practices on all equipment and to assist participants with anything they may need help practicing. Children from ages 0 to 6 years old may attend when accompanied by parent or guardian. Parents of all non-members must sign a release form in order for their child to participate.

Competitive Team
Team participation begins at level 4 and is by invitation only.

Tuition Policy
Classes run monthly and enrollment continues unless withdrawn via the front desk. To avoid additional charges, please notify Rose City Gymnastics Academy promptly of any class changes.

  • Tuition will be discounted by $5 per student if it is paid by the 20th of the preceding month.
  • Tuition is due by the 1st of every month. A $12 late payment fee will be assessed if not paid by the 10th.
  • Tuition is not pro-rated for missed classes. Make-up classes may be scheduled through the front office.An annual membership fee of $25 per student is due each September, and may be pro-rated for partial year registration at $2 per month.

Birthday Parties
Rose City Gymnastics Academy is excited to share your child’s special occasion. Fees through June 2008 are as follows:

  • $  95 for up to 12 participants
  • $145 for 12-24 participants

 We provide the following:

  • Coach assigned for 90 minutes of  party time.
  • Organization and facilitation for games and activities.
  • Supervision on use of all equipment, including beams, bars, floor, mats, vault, as well as with parachute and obstacle courses.
  • Table and tablecloth for cake and snacks. And we do the clean up!

 Parent responsibilities include:

  • Obtaining signed release forms from all participants and helpers.
  • Supplying an adult helper (one for every eight children attending).
  • Providing any refreshments, plates, napkins, utensils, and party favors.
